Family Debt Responsibility

When parents owe an extreme amount of debt to different places are the children responsible for the debt once parents are deceased?

Generally speaking No. Sometimes nursing homes & hospitals lead surviving children to believe that they owe the money. This is false unless you agree to pay the money. So usually some administrator person comes out with a piece of paper tells you you owe the money then while you are still reeling from the loss of a parent they have you sign a paper. Then they have you.

The parent's estate, not you, is responsible.
