I have only been married for 8 months. I moved into the house my husband purchased before we married. We are getting divorced. Am I entitled to a share in the house and property

In Ohio, the divorce statute orders the court to classify all of the property and debts of a marriage at the time of divorce as either marital property or separate property. If you husband owned the home before you were married then the chances are that the court will find that this is his separate property and not to be divided between you.

However, if significant marital funds (money the two of you earned while you were married) were paid towards the house, then the court may take any such payments that went to equity in the house and divide those in half. However, given the short duration of your marriage (8 months) this is probably not a significant enough number for the court to spend a lot of time and concern on that issue.
