Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

I recently found out from a friend that a girl I dated 9 years ago is claiming I am the father. I had no idea up until now that the child was possibly mine. She is supposedly going to file for a dna test and back child support. Can she do this and what are my rights if I am the father?

If you are served with papers you will have to get a lawyer and will almost assuredly be compelled to take a DNA test. If someone else was named as father, then it gets really complicated. If you are compelled to provide DNA and it reveals that you are the father, then the child and the state (if she ever received state assistance), can pursue you for all the child support from day one. The mother files on behalf of the child. If someone else has been paying, then it gets really messy... There a few ways out so you will need help. 216.952.1990 if you want more info.
