Can a suspect who was arrested but not convicted sue the police when they inform the suspect's employer about the arrest and the suspect is subsequently fired?

Generally, and based off the limited information you provided, no. Police officers have qualified immunity from lawsuits that occur while working within their official capacity. However, if the officer did not have probable cause to arrest you, then you may have a case.
