Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Ohio

In the state of Ohio do the police have the right to ask questions of a minor they suspect of a minor crime without the presence of a parent or legal guardian? the police questioned my 14 yr old about an incident without my permission or knowledge. She was with her 19 year old sister. They are now pressing charges and she will need to go to juvenial court.

The police should contact the parents before questioning. They may argue that they believed the older sister had the authority. Best case scenario: whatever the minor said would be suppressed, and the police would have to rely on what they had without any confession.
