Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

homeowner rights

I just bought a house and the previous owner did not give his tenants a 30 day notice to vacate. Now I am having trouble getting them out of the house, I am going to owner/occupy this property. My husband told them yesterday that he would give them 30 days,( I was told by someone that we can by law give them only 3 days.) but they are mad and say they are going stay for 90 days and not pay anything.

Re: homeowner rights

Dear New Owner, Under Ohio's Landlord-Tenant Act, you have the right to evict tenants, upon proper 3 day notice.

Because the implementation of these laws require careful compliance with all requirements of time and service, etc., I urge you to retain legal counsel at once, to accomplish your goals.

Good luck. J. Norman Stark
