Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

four years ago we bought a home as is, and it was trashed, it had been abandoned for about a year. The company we bought it from sold it with a clear title, and we have since refinanced with a clear title. Now a company that has purchsed the debt of the owner before the group we bought it from is claiming that we need to pay the outstanding balance. Can a debt incurred from an owner who sold to a group that then sold to us be enforcable and will it result in a lein. There was no work done on the property until we bought it and we received no financial benefit or compensation at closing.

Having a clear title to the ownership of real estate means, in part, that previous outstanding liens have been satisfied. The title insurance company that handled your transfer insures this sort of thing. I suggest to contact them.
