Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

motorcycle hit my car and he's trying to sue me?

I just got a summons in the mail today from a guy that hit the back corner of my car with his motorcycle when I was to make a legal U-Turn. He did not want to call the cop and since there was little to no damage on my car i didn't care. He tried to give me a bill a month later to fix his bike so I called my insurance company and they took pictures of my car and closed the claim against his favor. So now 5 months later I'm being sued for the money to fix the bike 6k and 15k for punitive damages. When I was reading over the facts he stated in the letter he is saying my step father who was present at the accident ''immediately approached him and requested he not call the police because his daughter was drinking'' and ''that my step father would pay for the damages''. I have never hear of these statement before now and they are very false! I had been at my mothers house stuffing my wedding invitations and was leaving to drop them off at the post office. I don't know what to do? Can he really sue me? He's making up lies and he should have called the cops if he and the bike were so injured. He insisted on not calling the cops. What do I do now?

Re: motorcycle hit my car and he's trying to sue me?

If you have been issued a summons, you need to file an answer or a default judgement could be taken against you. If your insurance is handling the matter for you, then that is good. Otherwise, you definitely need an attorney. Feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss further. Best regards, Edward DiCato
