Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

I recently went to court for Driving under a suspended license twice. Both times I was not aware I was under suspension. I recieved a Seat belt ticket and due to financial hardship was unable to pay it right away. I was puller over for no reason leaving a gas station and recieved the first ticket to driving while suspended. I asked the officer what I needed to do and he gave me no information. The officer then handed me a letter which they give to people with a suspended license. I called the local court and they had told me I need to pay they fine which I did and get a letter or re enstatement which I also did. Three day later I recieved a letter from The DMV stating i needed to pay $15 fee to them for having my license suspended, I payed this. About one week later I was pulled over for not having a light over my license plate and was told that my license was still suspended, not knowing it. I appeared for court and the judge had me make another court date for pre trial. Im not sure what may come of this but I would like to know what I need to take care of all of this. Im not a crimal, Im a navy veteran with a wife and two kids. If you could give me some guidence on what I need to do or should expect.

I must honestly say that you need a lawyer to unravel this mess. These types of things can be pled down to lesser offenses under circumstances like this. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
