Does a will or living trust have to be drawn up by a lawyer, or can a person do it himself?

While it is not a good idea to do it yourself, there is no legal requirement that a lawyer draw these documents. Only a lawyer can do it for you, but you can do it for yourself.

Most "homemade" trusts I have seen were either defective or did not accomplish what they were intended to do. Would you diagnose your own illness based on reading a book or a website? Doing a trust based on downloading an internet form is not much different.
