Re: workers comp

Good morning,

In Ohio, the amount of compensation for a permanent partial percentage award is calculated by multiplying the percentage of whole person impairment by 2 and then multiplied by the appropriate maximum rate for the year of the injury.

For example, if the year of your injury is 2005, the maximum rate is $226. Therefore, 7%x2=14x $226= $3,164.

Additionally, you may be able to increase the percentage of permanent partial by objecting to the initial determination within the appropriate time period and paying for an independent medical examination.

If the results of the independent examination are favorable, you would then have a hearing with the industrial commission to attempt to receive an increased percentage.

Please contact an attorney as your rights may be at risk if your claim is not handled appropriately and within the strict time-frames established by the state.
