Legal Question in DUI Law in Oregon

First Dui-best way to present myself as responsible in court.

I recieved a DUII(my first)&speeding ticket approx. 5 days ago.I am going to rprsnt. myself in court due to lack of money.I'm going to have my boss& whomever write a letter of recomendation to the judge.I know that I can't get out of the DUII so I 'm just looking to get my sentence reduced and to try to pay as little as poss.I was also told to go to a Alcohol&Drug trtmnt. center to get an evaluation(I have been told I would be ordered to do so by the judge),so I thought if I was one step ahead of the game it might help to look more responsible! Is there anything else that I can do to help my outcome?

If this is your first DUI and nobody was injured in the case, then you should be eligable for Diversion.

It would be a huge mistake to represent yourself. You should at least apply for a court appointed attorney. If you make too much to get one, then you should be able to afford a private attorney that can help you get through the diversion process.

You need to talk to a lawyer right away. There might be defenses available that you don't know about and you also have to fax a written request for a hearing to DMV within 10 days of your citation if you've given a breath test over .08% or if you refused the breath test or else your license will be automatically suspended. Many times the cop won't show for the hearing so you win if you just show up.
