Re: widow's Social Security

Your posed question is very broad and you did not give very specific details. Therefore, I am providing a general overview which I am hopeful will address most of your question(s). If you need more specific information, do not hesitate to contact me directly at my office in Salem or through my email at [email protected].

Social Security survivors benefits can be paid to:

A widow or widower -- full benefits at full retirement age, or reduced benefits as early as age 60

A disabled widow or widower -- as early as age 50

A widow or widower at any age if he or she takes care of the deceased's child who is under age 16 or disabled, and receiving Social Security benefits.

Online at http://www.ssa.gov/ww&os2.html

there is a calculator which will help you with an estimate pf how much your benefits will be.

To apply you can call Social Security toll free number or visit you local Social Security office.
