Re: debt collection filling for bankrupsy

If your house is held jointly with your husband and the debt is yours alone, you don't have to worry about that. I'm not thrilled with debt negotiators since I've rarely heard anything good about any of them, especially from people who do end up filing bankruptcy. A lot of law firms have started to deal with debt issues on behalf of consumers and, from what I've been seeing, are less expensive than the various "credit counselors," credit repair," "debt relief," etc. agencies.

My suggestion is to contact your local County Bar Association. All of the Pennsylvania County Bar Associations that I'm aware of have a low cost lawyer referral service and before you spend any more money on "debt counseling" you should at least find out what their charges are.
