Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania

my son purchased a home 4 yrs ago with a girlfriend. Less that a yr later she was caught cheating on himand she moved out. He sought legal advice and was told to have her sign a paper stating she had no interest in the home and did not make any of the payments, which was done. We thought she was out of his life and yesterday she texted him that he may loose his home because she filed for bankruptsy. He did not respond in any way to her. I told him to contact an attorney on Monday, but I would like to sleep tonight... worried about my son. Thank you in advance for your time.

I seriously doubt there would be any problem with the house. It sounds like the girlfriends was not on any documentation to begin with, then as an extra precaution sign a statement disclaiming any interest in the property. I can't see how her creditors could have any claim to your son's property. It sounds like she simply did not know what she was talking about.

That said, there may be other facts in your son's situation that could affect the outcome. It certainly would be a good idea to speak with an attorney and find out exactly what you son's potential exposure might be.
