Re: Slander

Defamation is usually defined as "blackening the character or reputation of a person." Libel is the word used when the the words are written, slander is used when the words are spoken. This, defamation, usually takes place when someone says something, which is untrue, which makes other people not want to do business with you or associate with you.

As for the hostile work place question it depends on what is going on. If the hostile work environment is because of sexual harassment then there are federal and state laws which cover this situation. It really depends on what the work enviornment is; it is not possible to say which law covers a situation without finding out everything that is going on. You should speak to an attorney for a further clarification of your rights.
