Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Pennsylvania

The time and course of the Pittsburgh Marathon will interfere with my right to go to church on Sunday when I choose to go. What can be done about this? With the way the course is laid out, I will be prevented from leaving my garage and driving to church. How can the city get away with this?

The city can close streets for a variety of reasons. It may not do so for the purpose of interfering with someone's religious freedom, but that is not what is happening here. The effect on you is just incidental.

I should also point out that you are still free to go to church as long as you leave before the street is closed and return after it reopens. You are facing an inconvenience, but are not being prevented from going. And the inconvenience you face applies equally to any of your neighbors who have obligations on Sunday, whether religious or not.
