Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

sales tax

I recieved a letter from an accounting firm on behalf of a large furniture chain from which i bought furniture from.the letter basically says that he store wrongfully collected too much state sales tax and i am to be refunded.the amount to be refunded is around $300,however,after the accounting firm deducts thier fees they say i will be recieving about $28.this is not a class action lawsuit.my question is why should i settle for $28 dollars, doesn't the furniture company have the responsibility to make sure i get the total refund?the accounting firm says i must sign the papers within a set period or i will not recieve anything.there is no contact information to the furniture company, only to the accounting firm.how do i go about getting my full refund?

Re: sales tax

You don't have to opt in to the class action. However, if you don't, you have to proceed on your own to collect your money. The other thing is that you may have already blown the statute of limitations if you don't opt in. Finally, if you proceeded on your own, it is unlikely an attorney would represent you on a contingent fee basis, because the total amount at issue is $300--at most, the attorney would get about $100.
