Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Attachment against checking account

A judgment is against me for a credit card debt. My checking account has been attached. Is this legal? I thought that only the government could do something like that.

Re: Attachment against checking account

your checking account can be garnished twice in a six month period by a creditor with a valid judgment. there may be defenses to this, depending upon the origination of the funds and the ownership of the account. you should contact an attorney in your area.
