Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Authorized User

I was an authorized user on my mothers credit card accounts (3) , mainly so that I could handle her financial business for her. She passed away recently and I would like to know if I can be held responsible for her outstanding debt personaly, or can they only make a claim against the estate (which has very lttle assets and probably will not even coverfuneral expenses) I never sugn any paper work for her cards either

Re: Authorized User

If you personally signed as a guarantor as opposed to just being an authorized user you are responsible for payment of the credit card. Did you sign the application when the account was opened? More information is needed. You might want to check with legal counsel. If I can assist let me know. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
