You definitely want to file an Answer and at least call the MDJ and notify them that you intend to defend. Frequently, credit card companies will not show up and continue the matter.

It may also be wise to get an attorney to appear in your stead. The credit card and collection companies often have no evidence and attempt to rely on your testimony to make their case. If you appear through an attorney, they can't do that.

A lawyer can assert the technical defenses of a contract action that you might have available. I offer free initial consultations.

You should respnd to the lawsuit notify the court you intend to defend.

You may have a defense to the suit. The amount claimed may be incorrect or inflated. perhaps it is not timely. You may want to review your manner and if appropriate represent you at the hearing or attempt to resolve the matter
