Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

debt collection

Can a man call me and say he is from the Criminal Justice Investigation dept of the U.S. and say he will issue an arrest warrant for monies owed if I do not pay immediately. He did not or never sent me any paper work or documents and wanted me to fax him a hand written note with all my bank info and personal info so he could withdrawal money from my account. He also wanted it stated in his name not a compnay name?

Re: debt collection

This is either a scam, or an illegal debt collection attempt. They absolutely cannot reference or assert that they are from the US Government if they are not.

Do not give this person your account number, period. If you have his contact info, I would suggest that you contact a consumer attorney (whether its me or someone else) to bring a claim against this company for unfair debt collection practices.
