prothonataries office

a friend lent me 1000.00---I paid all but 677.---he filed in the prothonataries office. what does this mean. will i go to jail... so worried

You paid back "all but" 677 out of 1000? In other words, you paid him back except that you barely paid him back. You will not go to jail, but he will have judgment entered against you, and the sheriff will levy upon your real and personal property.

This is a civil case it does not involve jail. He will probably get a judgment and it will add to the cost that you have to pay back because of the filing fees. It is better to try to work out some payment arrangement with him if you can because if he has to execute on the judgment it will only make it worse.
