Whenever you are owed money, you can take reasonable steps to collect the money. Those include calling and writing. If that fails, your only remaining option is to sue. The purpose of the suit is to obtain a judgment which will allow you to collect via sale of personal property or attaching a bank account.

The biggest concern of anyone who is owed money is whether they can prove they are owed it, and, more importantly, whether it is collectible. If the debtor has no assets or those assets are exempt under state law, your efforts may prove fruitless. So, I would only consider pursuing it if there are non exempt assets from which to recover or the chance of the same in the future.

I trust this has been helpful, but feel free to call or e-mail with any questions as I will be happy to advise you on a free initial basis and represent you, if desired.
