Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

My fiance' was taken into custody last night for a check that he cashed. We received a letter in the mail along with a check. We called the phone number that was provided in the letter. we couldn't get through. We cashed the check and then found it to be counterfeit. What is the punishment for this. We are honest people and we thought that it was legitamate. Can you give me some advice? We have the letter that we received in the mail still.

This happens quite frequently....get a good lawyer and this should be reolved without much problem.

I can go to the prelim hearing and get bail addressed for under $1000.00.
