Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

I was recently in court for a criminal mischief charge. I went to my first court date where I thought I would just have to plead guilty or not guilty and then get another court date for the trial. But when I went up, the prosecutor said that he wasn't prepared for a case against me, and thus, the judge dismissed the case.

I think this was a mistake since it was not the date of my trial. Am I correct?

And if it was a mistake on their part, is there anyway they can call me back to court for another trial?

The only question is whether the charges were dismissed with prejudice. If they were you beat the rap. If not they could file again. Though it probably isn't likely.
