Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

simple assault

I have been charged with this, the charge is not from my girlfriend,but from the commonwealth,I have no previous serious charges against me,my girlfrien and I have a year old son togrther,and are renting to own a house,and generally support one another,if I go to jail,she cannot make it byherself and my family will be on the street,what do you think my chances are?

Generally speaking, if the two of you have reconciled, a diversion program like ARD or DOIT should be available to you to keep your record clean. Unless she was seriously injured, I would not expect a jail sentence even if you took this to trial and somehow lost. However, domestic assault cases can be complex, and you should retain an attorney to guide you through the process.
