Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

statutory rape charges

A young man of 21 at my place of employment was just arrested for two counts each of;invol.deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual and indecent assault, interference with the custody of children, and corruption of minors. He had picked up a 13 year old runaway at a restaurant and took her home and had sex with her(on several occasions)This was all published in our local paper. What do you think the outcome is likely to be,pertaining to Pa. laws? He seems to think that he has no worries, says she lied about being 13 and other guys have been with her . Won't he still be charged even if the girl has a troubled past? After all she still is only 13.

Re: statutory rape charges

This young man needs serious representation right away. The potential sentences are very serious--several years, and he should not even attend the preliminary hearing without private counsel. We handle cases like this, so you or he can call our offices at 267.639.3105, or [email protected].

Re: statutory rape charges

He has already said too much. Mistake as to age is not a defense if the child is under 14. Statutory rape is a Felony of the Second Degree. Her past sexual conduct with the other guys is probably not admissible. But is he being charged with statutory rape? He needs to get a lawyer and fast.
