Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

child custody

i am the custodial parent of my 13 yr old son. His biological mother is an absent parent of 11 years. My ex-wife has partial custody rights with my son. My question is, if i get remarried, what rights do my new wife, my sons new step-mother, have with the existing court order?

Do I need to have the order ammended, or does my new wife have same rights as myself?

Re: child custody

Depends on what rights you are talking about? Legal custody? Its still yours. Primary custody? Its still yours. Partial custody? still ex wife's.

The potential problem I see is that your new wife might have problems when it comes to have doctors and dentists treat your son on her say so. So you might wish to inform them she can act on your behalf. Likewise you should contact your sons school and see if they need something from you to allow her to sign things like permission slips and the like.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
