Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

child rights

My daughter was adopted by my mom in Viginia when she was 5. She now wants to live with me and she is going to be 16 in 4 weeks. I live in PA. What rights do we have?

Re: child rights

Unfortunately, when your child was adopted, unless it was via some other mechanism, your rights were terminated. Therefore, depending on the age and requirements for emanciapation in VA your daughter may be able to be emanciapated. That would require an attorney licensed in VA. If your mother were willing to work something out with you and was not opposed to the relocation and you could demonstrate that it was in the best interests of your daughter, you may be able to accomplish your child's relocation.
