Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I'm engaged and will be married in September. I'm wondering if I need a prenup. My fiance and I don't own anything together. I have a house that is in my name only and she currently pays "rent" each month. If we were to get divorced, I would probably split the house with her even if not legally obligated to do so.

I'm wondering if I need a prenup because I make twice as much as she does (and definitely have more room for upward mobility) and I don't want to end up being broke because I have to split my earnings and divorced if something goes wrong. We don't have kids, etc.

Because we're both coming in to the marriage with own things and neither of us supported the other through schools, etc. my impression is that we probably don't need one. However, I don't the law.....Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Spend a couple of hundred dollars and speak with family law or estate planning lawyer.

Generally, pre-nups are meant to protect assets a person brings into the marriage. Their is little that can be done to protect assets obtained or increased during the pendency of the marriage.

Go see an attorney and get some piece of mind. And remember, you're probably only able to be upwardly mobile because of her.
