i have been with a woman for 13 years we have a 12 year old son together and she has a 7 year old son to another man her son only knows me as his father she gets child support for him we recently split up the 7 year old has been living with me since she left the only time she wants him is if i dont give her what she wants do i have any leagle rights to him what can i do

as someone who has stood in loco parentis you would have standing to file for custody however there is a presumption that you would have to overcome that parental custody is preferable you should speak with an attorney to discuss the strength of your case and determined up a litigation strategy
