Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My X daughter in law was given her step fathers last name, the man is not her legal Father. The man passed away and in order for the woman to collect her inheritance a DNA test needed to be done. The test came back that there is no chance the man is her Dad. Her mother lied to the man and the girls. Does the girl need to go back to her birth name?
