Legal Question in Medical Leave in Pennsylvania

Family issue

Hello. I am 26 years old. I am about to give birth in 2 weeks. The father of my child isn't really in the picture. During our time dating he abused me, lied to me about being bipolar, had a weed and alcohol addiction, and has now sent me an email saying that his mom and aunt set up a court date to take the child away. Can they do this?

Save the email as well as any other correspondence that you recieve from him. Get the paperwork together so that you can file for custody and support as soon as you and the baby are released from the hospital. If you have any records of the abuse and/or addiction, attach it to the custody petition. You should really have an attorney prepare these things for you. The mother and the grandmother of the putative father should not be able to file for custody of the baby because they lack standing.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
