Legal Question in Health Care Law in Pennsylvania

Protecting my father in law's assets

My father in law, who is 95 years old, lives in California and is married to his second wife. She is not my husband's mother, who is dead. My father in law is in the hospital and will be transferred to an extended care facility within the next few days. His wife has suggested to my husband that his father will stay there and that she will cash in his estate monies to pay for it. We have no clear idea about his health situation or whether he really needs to stay in the nursing care place. He may very well be able to come home. Should we get a lawyer to protect my father in law's interests - and our own? I do not expect that his wife has his interests at heart. Thank you.

Re: Protecting my father in law's assets

Does father in law have a will and/or estate plan?

Sounds like your husband needs to take a trip to California to find the answers to your questions and perhaps talk with his father's attorney.

Good luck to you.
