International power of attorney

I recently got married in Riga, Latvia (Eastern Europe) and returned home to the United States. My wife would like to take a loan or possibly sell her apartment over there but the banks need my signature in addition to hers. Since travelling back to Latvia for a signature is out of the question right now, could I prepare a power of attorney that would be valid in her country and give her mother or sister this right to take care of it for me? I am not interested in having any rights to her apartment, I just want her to be able to take loan or sell.

Your wife should ask a local lawyer (over there) what is required. I expect that you will need a document in both languages, and it will have to be legalized either at the Latvian consulate or by the Apostille convention (Latvia and the US are parties).
