Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Pennsylvania

malpractice

I had severe abdominal pain and went to ER. They sent me home and told me that I had kidney stones and was pregnant. I went back the following morning to ER because pain became more intense. The ER admitted me. The doctors said an ultrasound would not be productive at this time. They did eventually do an ultrasound but it was delayed. It turns out that I had appendicitis. I was in hospital for 3 days before they realized it. They never even considered an ectopic pregnancy or appendicitis according to my med records. Appendix ended up rupturing, lost baby ( 7 weeks pregnant), went into respiratory failure after appendix removal. Also had blood transfusions. Fever was so high that they could not control it. Hospital then life flighted me to another hospital where I ended up staying a couple more weeks to heal. Had to have physical therapists in my home with me to help me recover all the strength my body had lost. What I would like to know is if this could be a med malpractice case?

Yes, if what you state is true you have a med malpractice case. You should seek legal counsel. I or another attorney that post here would be happy to help you.

Re: malpractice

You were very fortunate to survive this incident. I think there was most prabably a needless delay in diagnosing and treating the problem. On the other hand You appear to have made a full recovery. One might determine that the pregnancy need not have been lost had an earlier diagnosis been made. The issues you present certainly deserve an evaluation by a medical malpractice lawyer.
