Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

how hurt do you have to be?

On a white floor at a hospital while I was visiting a patient, right outside the patients room there was a small pool of clear water on the floor. There was a small stream of water going up the hall. There was a food cart parked there that was gone and was presumed to be the cause. I fell, my left leg going foward and out to the left and my right leg going back in and awkward split. I'm 62. What it did was exasperate an already delicate knee and ankle. I had pain and swelling for five days so far, but it seems to be subsiding slowly. Do I have any recourse?

Re: how hurt do you have to be?

If you can prove that the hospital was at fault and that it had sufficient notice of the condition, you have a claim. However, most claims are only pursued if the injury lingers for a reasonable period of time. An injury which fades in a few weeks would not be given serious attention by any risk management department.
