Lawsuit Liability

My son is on my auto insurance policy. If he has a bad acciudent with damages over and above the insurance limits, can I be sued? More important, can my wife be sued? This is in Pennslyvania.

You could be sued if your son was acting as your agent at the time of the accident - for example if you had sent him to the store to get you a gallon of milk. You could also be sued if you were personally negligent somehow, for example, if you knew that your son didn't have a drivers license but still allowed him to take your car. Otherwise, you should be okay.

Your insurance will still be effected, because your company would be responsible for any damages up to the policy limit.
