Because they want to rule out or rule in someone. Heart attack is common and can occur naturally or be induced. They want a copy of the will to see who benefitted from the person's death. If a person was elderly and was induced to make a will leaving all to a stranger and disinheriting spouses or children and the person died under mysterious circumstances a short time later, that might suggest to the police that the person who benefitted had something to do with the death. Review of the will could also show that the spouse and/or children benefitted, that the will was made awhile ago and that nobody had reason to kill the deceased.

You don't indicate the age of the deceased or your relationship to the deceased or why you are making an inquiry. If you are the person who is a suspect, I would be cautious in speaking to the police and you might want to consider consulting a criminal law attorney in order to protect yourself. The police are not your friends and can and will use anything you say against you.
