Re: waiting time

You should start to receive your checks within 2 weeks, if your employer's insurance company accepts the claim--which it appears they will. Nevertheless, you should consult a lawyer. Most lawyers who regularly practice workers comp law will not charge you for an initial consulatation, or at all, unless and until there is litigation in your case. Being on workers comp is like walking in a minefield. You should not sign anything without speaking to a lawyer. You should be aware that WC insurance companies regularly conduct surveillance. Finally, after 90 days, you should see your own doctor who will support you later on if litigation occurs. While your injury just happened, it is never too late to start protecting yourself. The insurance company, and any "nurses" or "caseworkers' they assign to your case are not your friends. Any questions, feel free to email me or telephone at 215-851-0200, ext 3322, or 570-622-7300, same extension.
