Legal Question in Medical Leave in Puerto Rico

son's mental illness
I currently live in PR and work as a teacher in a private school.My adopted 20 year old son has required hospitalization 2 times this current school year. I am afraid I am going to be fired from my teaching job. Can they fire me for this.

Depending on certain characteristics of your employer, you may be entitled up to a year of unpaid leaves of absence to deal with this situation.
