What is a reasonalble relationship between compensatory damages and punitive dam

I am trying to prepare a dollar amount for compensatory damages and punitive damages in an action against a former employer. I know how to compute the compensatory damages. What is a reasonable way to compute or estabvlish punitive damamges. Can you suggest a multiple of compensatory to punative?

Under RI law, punitive damages are a function of the net worth of the individual or business defendant. Punitives are designed not merely to punish the act but to deter others. Important to take discovery from defendant to determine its net worth.
