can a company refuse two post dated checks to pay for a debt?

Yes, of course.(Post-dated checks mean

that there are no or funds insufficinet to pay the debt in the account on which the checks are written on the date which they're written.) One might say that in terms of valid legal tender, such checks as proffered remittances are in effect a nullity.
