Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Charging someone with burglary 1st degree.

A woman living next door to my boyfriend had been beaten up by her significant other named Mike. The woman then ran over to my boyfriends house telling him what happened. She gave verbal permission to my boyfriend to enter her home to speak with Mike. Mike ran towards my boyfriend trying to attack him for entering the home, my boyfriend hit him once as means of self defense. Other males the woman knew then came into the home beating up Mike. And my boyfriend left. Can he really be charged with 1st degree burglary?

If he was given permission to enter the home by a resident of the home then that would not constitute burglary. Was he arrested?
