Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

simple possession of mariquana and underage drinking

My son was charged with the above charges on his senior trip. He was accepted into the PTI program but it has been difficult to meet certain demands of this program. it is his first offence for anything. What are my best options?

Re: simple possession of mariquana and underage drinking

Your son't best options are to find a way to comply with the PTI requirements. PTI is a beautiful program because once a person completes it, they destroy the arrest record. For a young man who will be starting a career and looking to advance as an adult, having a criminal drug record is the last thing he would want. If he does not complete PTI then they will send the case back to the court for prosecution. PTI is usually very approachable. If he has scheduling problems for doing his community service, then usually all a person needs to do is call them or go see them and they will try and accommodate him. I hope this has helped.
