Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Stolen Pet then fed to snake.. now theif is sueing for vet bills for the SNAKE

Someone broke into the house and stole my sugar glider (small flying marsupial) pet among other items in the house. They found the person who stole the items, but found out that the sugar glider was given to his friend who then fed it to his snake. The sugar glider who is bonded to its caregiver bit the man and woman who stole the items, the man who recieved the stolen property, and the snake. The man who recieved the stolen property is now sueing for pain and suffering and mental anguish caused by the glider biting him and his snake and sueing for the vet bills for the injuries to the snake by the sugar glider. Sugar gliders are not snake food, they cost anywhere from $200+ and are companion pets - not food. Any help and suggestions as to what to do would be greatly appreciated. I know i have heard of theifs sueing home owners for hurting themselves while on the property. Is this similar? is there a chance this case can be lost? What kinda of counter suit should be filed? Would it help to bring a bonded sugar glider pet to the hearing to show what the animals are like?

Why is this a question of SC law if you are in CT? did this happen in SC?

There's a lot to your question, but to really help you, I need more information. Have you actually been served with a lawsuit? What type of court is the case in? If you've actually been sued, you really should retain an attorney to represent you. You have a time line that's already started to run on when you have to file an "answer" to the complaint. If you don't file this answer in time or properly, they can ask for a "default judgment" against you and you would be responsibile for anything they've asked for.

Feel free to email me or call for further information based on your case.
