Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Friends during seperation.

My friend is seperated because her husband has been living with another woman for almost a year. Her divorce is not final yet. We like each other and talk on the phone and see each other at church. My question is, can I meet her in public at a resturant if we drive seperate, sit across the table from each other and have no romantic contact at all, would this cause her any problems?

Re: Friends during seperation.

It may cause her some "problems" in her divorce case, but they should be relatively minor -- provided the facts are as you describe. Meeting in public for a meal will not constitute adultery, as there is no "opportunity" for the two of you to have sex there.

You can read more about "proof of adultery" in an article I wrote. Simply paste this address into your web browser: http://www.scfamilylaw.com/divorce-proof-of-adultery-in-south-carolina.html

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
