administering medications

can non-nurses give meds in a private assisted living home? I thought only LPN or RN nurses could do this. Thanks

This is really a question of state law. In most states only an RN or an LPN can give medications. In some situations a Certified Medical Technician or Certified Medication Aide can give medications under direct supervision of a nurse.
