Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Dakota

using a fake name and old address

I was wondering if it is illegal to use an old address under a fake name on some personal information on a website? Here is what happened my friend went to this website and signed up for this webcam thing and he put his old address and a fake name because it was required but he did not want them to send him anything in the mail. my friend did not like the sight so he called them back and cancelled it but when doing so he gave them his real name but the fake address. i was just wondering if this is going to come back and haunt him or what.

Will this come back to haunt him? Probably not until he announces his name for President.

It is not illegal to give an alias unless your intent is illegal in most states. If giving a false name on the internet were really illegal, 99 percent of internet users would already be in the slam.

Good luck. Stay away from the webcam sites.
